Iowa Schedule

January 1, 2008 – Sudanese Independence Day

10:00 a.m. – Meet at The Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, 815 High Street in Des Moines to assemble, meet, and prepare signs and banners.

11:20 a.m. – Leave St. Paul’s and march roughly 2 miles down Grand Avenue to the Iowa State Capitol.

12:00 Noon – Assemble and begin demonstration at Capitol. [NOTE: There is parking available for those going to the Capitol by car at Pennsylvania and Grand (directly West of the Wallace Building).]

12:30 p.m.– Rally/Press Conference on the West Steps of the Iowa State Capitol, featuring presidential candidates or surrogates (all are invited); Pulitzer Prize winner Samantha Power will speak on behalf of Senator Obama; former Governor David Beasley of South Carolina will speak on behalf of the Huckabee campaign; keynote speakers include former NBA star and activist Manute Bol; and activist-organizer Simon Deng, a former slave in Sudan.
